August 16, 2006

GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2006--GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME)(NYSE:GME.B), the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced it will be giving charities across the nation a chance to win gaming consoles and the new MADDEN '07 video game by Electronic Arts, through the GAMESTOP/EB GAMES CHARITY CHALLENGE. National Football League greats Tim Brown and Kordell Stewart will serve as Honorary Chairmen today for a MADDEN '07 tournament that serves as the kick off to the contest at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

"GameStop and EB Games stores host tournaments around the world, all year long, but, we know that not all young gamers have the opportunity to get out and compete. Today we are bringing tournament action to young gamers and teaming up with two great former NFL players to make it happen," said Daniel DeMatteo, Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of GameStop Corp.

Brown and Stewart will demonstrate their gaming skills as they compete head to head for their respective charities. Fans worldwide of the Madden video game franchise can go to www.GameStop.com/Madden07 to see Brown and Stewart compete and take home the bragging rights and the bucks.

Brown will be competing on behalf of The Tim Brown Foundation which supports a variety of inner-city youth programs and Stewart will be playing for his high school alma mater, the John Ehret High School football team. Stewart's former high school is located across the river from New Orleans and is still rebuilding from the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.

"With 4,500 stores worldwide, we help gamers of all ages move off of the sidelines and into the game with global in-store tournaments, online promotions and special events such as today," indicated Tom DeNapoli, Vice President of Marketing for GameStop Corp. "Our team brings customers not only the hottest new releases, such as MADDEN '07, but events that clearly show why GameStop and EB Games stores are the gamers destination of choice."

Charities can register to bring MADDEN '07 gaming action to their community center, hospital, or recreation center by going to www.GameStop.com/Madden07. Qualified non-profit charities serving youth will be chosen by criteria including overall apparent need.
