GameStop Launches New PickUp@Store Program in Time for Holiday

New convenient and free service allows shoppers to shop for games online and pick them up at their neighborhood GameStop store

GRAPEVINE, Texas, Nov 11, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Shopping for video games this holiday season just got a whole lot easier and faster with the launch of GameStop's new PickUp@Store service. This new program is free to use and allows customers to pick out the games they want online at www.GameStop.com, select a store of their choice that has the game in stock, place a hold on the game and pick it up as soon as that same day.

"With more than 4,500 stores in the United States, there's usually one or more GameStop stores conveniently located within just minutes of most people's homes or workplaces," said Shawn Freeman, senior vice president and general manager of Digital Commerce at GameStop. "We heard from our customers that they wanted both the convenience of browsing our online catalog in the comfort of their homes as well as the instant gratification of buying games from our stores. Our PickUp@Store service allows customers to do just that. Our online customers can now choose to have a game shipped right to their doorstep or pick it up at their favorite store, all from GameStop.com. PickUp@Store will save time and money, because customers won't have to pay for shipping or drive around town looking for the games they want."

PickUp@Store works as follows:

  • Visit www.GameStop.com.
  • Search for the game you want and click on the PickUp@Store icon to check if it's available at a nearby store.
  • From the list of nearby stores that have the game in stock, select the one that's most convenient and click the PickUp@Store button to place your game on hold at that store. This store can also be saved as your Home Store if you wish.
  • Wait to receive a "Ready for PickUp" email from GameStop with pick-up instructions.
  • Print and bring your confirmation email to the store where a GameStop game advisor will assist you with completing your purchase.

Trade-in credit can be used as payment for PickUp@Store orders. Also, M-rated game purchases are subject to age verification and require an eligible adult to be present to complete the transaction. For more details on PickUp@Store, visit any GameStop store or www.GameStop.com.
