Cathy Preston is publisher of Game Informer, a post she has held since 2000. Under her leadership, Game Informer became an instrumental part of GameStop’s customer loyalty program, beginning in 2002. Today Game Informer ranks as the third largest consumer publication in the U.S., as well as the world’s largest digital magazine, with distribution in 16 countries and five languages. In addition to accolades for the print and digital magazine editions, companion web site gameinformer.com has earned a distinguished Webby People’s Voice Award. Preston began her career in the video games industry in 1987. In 1989, she joined Software Etc. as video game buyer, and was promoted to general merchandise manager, where she played an integral role in bringing the emerging category of video games to mass market retail. Preston was recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the 10 most powerful women in gaming in 2014, and honored as a "Woman to Watch" in the 2003 Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's Women in Business Awards.
