Paul Raines is the chief executive officer of GameStop Corporation. Prior to being named CEO in June 2010, he served as chief operating officer, a position he held since joining the company in September 2008.
Paul and his team have transformed GameStop into the leading online and multichannel player in the video game industry - building online and digital platforms, mobile recommerce, download and streaming technologies and maintaining world class retail store operations. Under his leadership, GameStop has expanded its business beyond a portfolio of gaming brands, to include a diverse portfolio of technology and mobile brands through the acquisitions of Simply Mac and Spring Mobile, and entrance into the prepaid wireless space through a strategic dealer partnership with Cricket Wireless. Today, GameStop is a family of specialty retail brands that makes your favorite technologies affordable and simple.
Prior to joining GameStop, Paul spent eight years with The Home Depot in various management positions in retail operations, including serving as executive vice president for U.S. stores and president of the Southern Division for the Atlanta-based company. He also has extensive international expertise covering Latin America, Asia and Europe. Prior to The Home Depot, he spent four years in global sourcing for L.L. Bean and 10 years with Kurt Salmon Associates in their consumer products group. Born in Costa Rica, Paul graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
